Erin Anderson

Surrounded by pastoral horse farms, my home and studio and he’art’ are in the quickly changing landscape of Tennessee.

A life long keen observer of Nature, avid Master Gardener and hiker, I love to ‘play outside’ and often carry my camera along to capture magical moments. Forest, Flowers and Farm often appear in my work. Nature is my Haven.

I've dabbled in different forms of art for all of my life. My kindergarten teacher told my mother that I was an artist. In college, I studied jewelry making, photography and fiber arts. As a stay at home Mom, I painted murals, took thousands of photos, and created beautiful gardens which in turn became a part time job. I was fortunate to have several garden clients who gave me carte blanche in their gardens. I have recently retired from my gardening business and currently focus all of my attention on my true passion for painting.

Primarily a self taught painter, I find total Peace and Tranquility standing in front of my easel, courting my artistic muse. Getting ‘lost’ in my art is my therapy. Being surrounded by God and Nature is healing.

My art is constantly inspired by the music and miracles of Nature and our ever changing landscape. I enjoy using subtle neutrals one day and bold colors of sea and sky the next. Music playing in my studio deeply moves me and often affects the direction of my painting.

I often work in a series or collections, which allows me to play with variations on a theme, until beauty and peace appear. Occasionally, I’ll add torn pieces of old love letters, sheet music, vintage ledgers, house blueprints, etc, as the first layer. I’ve been collecting vintage ephemera for a long time. I love the sentimental soul this adds to my art, even if I’m the only one who knows it’s there. Texture and luscious acrylic paints are added on top until Nature shines its light. Vintage/Modern is a theme i’ve been exploring. Our landscape is changing so fast and I have a deep desire to honor and preserve it, while also embracing the newness….

In this troubled world….

My calling…..

is to awaken, through my art, an ethereal moment of Calm and Retreat.
